The most exciting and nerve wrecking election in history is going on in Zimbabwe. The candidate list in alphabetical and no ranked order is; Robert G. Mugabe. In charge of his campaign is the militia. On his voters list are also the militia men, but also the always faithful and reliable dead!

I saw a horror movie “The return of the living dead” many years ago. Rotten corpses stood up from the grave every midnight, and crowding the streets in hunt for brain matter from living people. I can picture similar scenes in the streets in Zimbabwe these days. The John and Jane Does only wake up for elections though, and only there to vote for Mugabe. No matter of brains this. No worries or horrors!

Now that the voting is over, we can only wait in anticipation for the result. I wonder how they’re counting the percentages. How far back and how many are they including from the death list? Does the votes from living, dead and colonial whites count equally much? They must have thought this through already. These factors are crucial for a credible result, isn’t it?!

What is your adopted country doing to resolve the crisis? South Africa is doing absolutely nothing under Thabo Mbeiki. This is the biggest reason why Robert Mugabe is continuing to defy the entire world along with the collective wishes of his own people. Do you have anything optimistic to share with us?

You’re asking for optimistic news... well, Thabo Mbeki will most likely be replaced by Jacob Zuma some time soon... but hey, that’s even worse (the way I see it!). Been ransacking my mind and news for positives... do you have an easier question please?!

It's an ongoing tragedy. I expected Morgan Tsvangirai to keep on fighting. Perhaps he did the right thing by pulling off because he knew that he is not going to win the run-off because there would be widespread rigging and intimidation. Also, the threat of his supporters being killed or tortured must have weighed heavily in his mind too. But then this brings us to no solution.

“The return of the living dead” is a fantasy and Mugabe and his henchmen are making this assumingly horror movie script into a reality. But if you see the other side, Mugabe is actually a dead man running the country as a Zombie. I am sure that with age deserting his mind and soul, he is a puppet in the hands of the military and the top Zanu-PF bosses.

I believe you become a puppet as soon as you’ve stayed in power for longer than the constitution allows... not necessarily with age. In this case he is a living dead no matter how you see it!!

Yash!
You’re absolutely right! Mbeki is just as big a clown. For all the african countries I believe you can say that they get what they deserve with the leaders they elect, South Africa included!

Sean!
I don’t blame Tsvangirai really. You need to be a warrior and a strategist to take Mugabe down.

Ekta!
True enough! He is a puppet held hostage I believe by other powerful men. He is dead no matter what... and has no choice but fight till the end!!
